Michelle Paver was born in Malawi, Africa, to a Belgian mother and a South African father. They moved to the UK when she was three, living in Wimbledon. She received a first class degree in bio-chemistry from the University of Oxford, but became a partner in a City-Law firm. Her Father Died in 1966, and she took a year long sabbatical during which she wrote her first novel, Without Charity. She resigned from her job soon after, pursueing a writing career. Her first Young Adult novel, Wolf Brother (the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness) was published in 2004, and follows the story of Torak, a 12 year old boy in the stone age. The series has sold 1 million copies in the UK alone. Ghost Hunter, the last in the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness, was published in the summer of 2009.
